Moorpark City Library

On August 15, 2014 Moorpark City Library joined the Inland Library Network increasing the number of items Moorpark City Library cardholders can access from just over 57,000 items to approximately 2.5 million items! Our 20,000 Moorpark City Library cardholders, can search the catalog at the top of this page
and if the item they wish to borrow is in the collections of Riverside, Santa Clarita, Moreno Valley or Simi Valley Public Libraries, they can place a hold on the item. It will then be delivered to Moorpark City Library within an estimated 5-7 days. All participating libraries in the network are operated by Library Systems & Services, LLC which has enabled the catalogs to be combined and items to be shared.

Moorpark City Library will also share material with other libraries in the new network.  It is up to each member library whether they want to share specific materials with other members of the network or not. This means local history and non-lendable reference collections, items with special local affiliations, very high demand materials, or new items will remain at the owning library. Moorpark City Library cardholders who place a hold on an item that we own in our Moorpark collection will always be placed first in the queue to receive it. Jennifer Mellon, Administrative Services Manager for the City of Moorpark said, “We are thrilled to offer this expansion of collections to residents of Moorpark.  By joining the Inland Network, Moorpark City Library cardholders will have access to a plethora of materials we could never offer as just one stand-alone library.”

Library software applications were also upgraded to include new features such as:

  • Integrated OverDrive Content:  Cardholders can search for, place holds on, and check out OverDrive eBooks and eAudiobooks directly from the catalog.  These check-outs and due dates can now be viewed by cardholders in their online library card account, as well as in their reading history should they select that option.
  • Hold notices:  Email and text notices for holds now go out four times per day instead of once daily.  This means the majority of cardholders with email notification will receive their hold notice on the same day that the item is returned to, or delivered to, Moorpark City Library, rather than the next morning.

“The systems upgrade simplifies the process of checking out our increasingly popular eBook collection from any Internet enabled computer,” stated Jo Rolfe, City Librarian. “By joining the network we can make available to the local community almost 44 times more books, audiobooks, DVDs, and other library materials most of which can be requested and delivered directly to our Library. We are so pleased to join with our lending partners to improve Moorpark’s library service!”
