The Moorpark City Council is now accepting applications for appointment to the Moorpark Planning Commission to fill the unexpired portion of the existing term concluding on December 31, 2024, as a result of an unscheduled vacancy on the Commission.
Planning Commission applicants must be a resident of the City of Moorpark, registered to vote in Moorpark and, where possible, have special knowledge in the fields of real property, construction, law, zoning, architecture, or related subjects. The Planning Commission regular meeting schedule is the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The Commission considers such matters as the general plan, specific plans, re-zonings, use permits, and subdivisions. The Planning Commission is also the City Council’s advisor on land use planning. Planning Commissioners receive compensation for their attendance at each meeting of the Commission as approved by resolution of the City Council.
Applicants will be required to attend a regular City Council meeting to make a brief presentation, tentatively scheduled for June 21, 2023, on qualifications and interest in the appointment. Failure to make a presentation shall result in disqualification for appointment. Use of a PowerPoint presentation will be permitted if the City Clerk has been provided with the file no less than 24 hours prior to the meeting.
Additionally, the appointee will be required to complete a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700), and complete two hours of ethics training and two hours of workplace harassment prevention training within 30 days of appointment. Failure to complete the training courses within the required timeframe will result in removal from the Planning Commission.
Applications are available on the City’s website at www.moorparkca.gov/serve. Applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2023.
