Zip Books

The California state budget for 2026-2027 did not provide money for the Zip Books program. As such, no libraries in California are able to offer Zip Books at this time.
We know many of our patrons have enjoyed this service and we hope that it will return in future years. In the meantime, if you are looking for a book that the Library does not currently carry, you can submit a Suggestion for Purchase. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

What is Zip Books?

Can’t find a book in our catalog? Request it through Zip Books and get it shipped directly to your home—free of charge! If approved, the item is ordered from Amazon and checked out to your library account. Read it and then bring it to the library when you’re done.

Who can use Zip Books?

To qualify, you must:

Have an active Moorpark City Library card in good standing.
Have a City of Moorpark mailing address listed in your library account.
Request a book not available in the Library's catalog.

Don't live in Moorpark? That's okay! Many California libraries participate in the Zip Books program. Visit the California State Library's website to find a participating library near you.

What Can Be Requested?

Print books, large print editions, and audiobooks.
- A Zip Books order cannot be placed for a book already in our library collection. However, a different format of a library-owned book may be purchased, i.e., in audiobook or large-type format.
Requested items must be $50 or less pre-tax for books, $75 for audiobooks, and foreign language books.
Three (3) Zip Book requests per month, subject to budget.
Pre-order titles are not eligible.

How to Request a Zip Book

Check the Moorpark City Library catalog to make sure we don't already own the item.
If the item meets the above requirements, fill out the request form below or at the library.
Wait for approval - Library staff will review your request. You'll receive an email letting you know if it's been approved or denied.
Watch for delivery - The book will be shipped to your home. If it hasn't arrived within two (2) weeks, please call the Library at (805)517-6370.
Enjoy your book! You may keep your Zip Book for up to six (6) weeks.

How to Check In Zip Books

Bring your Zip Book in person to the Circulation Desk during library hours. Do NOT use the book drop. Zip Books turned in this way will be considered Lost.
Let staff know you're checking in a Zip Book, so it can be removed from your account.
If the Zip Book is not returned to a staff member, it will not be removed from your account. You will be responsible for the whole cost of the item.
